In this episode, we celebrate the life of a ninety-year old change maker, Hamzi Moghrabi. A Palestinian refugee since age fourteen, Hamzi found his path as an engineer, building infrastructure across the Arab world, from Abu Dhabi to North Africa.

When civil war in Lebanon drove him to take his family and seek safety in the US, he became a warrior for social justice, fighting for the rights of Arabs in America. He would also become the President of Arab- Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC)in Washington DC, advocating for social justice before returning to Lebanon building zero-waste plants that produce energy and recycle materials.

Despite the heartache he carries of never returning to his home in Palestine, Hamzi remains a proponent for a just and peaceful resolution to the Palestinian catastrophe. At the age of ninety he continues to raise funds for young Palestinian refugees who remain in refugee camps in Lebanon, ensuring them a path to a college education.

The story of his family’s history in Palestine is captured in the novel, The Olive Grove: A Palestinian Story.

Hamzi's journey from refugee to engineer to ADC President and advocate for social justice and peace is an inspiring story of determination and commitment to making a positive impact. His work serves as an inspiration to others who want to make a difference in their communities and the world.
